‘Evil Dead’s Fede Alvarez Directing ‘16 States’ For Lionsgate

Some of the most recognisable names in the horror genre have come together for 16 States, a pandemic-themed zombie horror penned by John Sequa & Glenn Ficarra (Jungle Cruise, This is Us).

Director of Evil Dead (2013) and Don’t Breathe, Fede Alvarez, will be directing the film for Vertigo Entertainment producer Roy Lee. Lee has been behind more than a handful of massive horror movies including The Ring to It, according to Deadline

According to Deadline, Lionsgate won the project in an auction. As for the plot of the movie, it revolves around a pandemic and zombies, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR)

THR adds “with a story of a mother trying to reach her family at the centre of it.” The project has been described as having shades of I Am Legend, starring Will Smith.

Vertigo Entertainment’s Miri Yoon is also producing with Zaftig Films’ Requa, Ficarra, and Charlie Gogolak. Bad Hombre’s Alvarez, Shintaro Shimosawa, and Rodolfo Sayagues are also producing.

Alvarez is also producing the next Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its possible accompanying series. This project interests us a fair amount, we look forward to seeing it progress.
