Bruce Campbell Says the New ‘Evil Dead’ Movie is Now Titled ‘Evil Dead Rise’

Earlier this month, we discovered that Lee Cronin is the director that Sam Raimi has chosen to direct the new movie in the iconic Evil Dead (ED) franchise, Bruce Campbell (Campbell – aka Ash Williams) revealed at the same time that the movie will be titled, Evil Dead Now.

However, it would appear that the title has changed, as Campbell provides an update in a new interview with Diabolique. According to Campbell, Evil Dead Now is now titled Evil Dead Rise (EDR). Additionally, Campbell’s latest comments on the movie suggests a much more different ED experience.

Here’s what Campbell told Diabolique:

“The official name is Evil Dead Rise. We’re getting a new draft in. I don’t think anything will happen until 2021. Full bore ahead, we’re very excited about it. A whole new ballgame. No more cabin in the woods.”

EDR will not feature Ash, and probably won’t have any connection to Fede Alvarez’s ED, so we’ll be told an all-new story within the ED universe.  Excited for a new ED movie? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. ED without Sam directing is just another generic horror movie. A blasphemous desecration of the Evil Dead who deserve better. The Kandarian demons roll their eyes every time they have to get out of their crypts and do these ED knockoffs like ED2013 and AvED. DS2 wont come out until 2022 now, plenty of time for Sam and Bruce to do the right thing and do AoD2 then let the ED die with pride.
